Blog: My Day As A Halloween Living Hanging Skeleton In A Scare House
Halloween event at the Essex Fire Museum, Mannequin man scaring the visitors as a spooky skeleton hanging dummy in the fire house of horrors
I spent most of the day hanging around!
I arrived at the Fire Museum at 9:00am already made-up. I'd decided to use the skeleton face make-up again but with a slight varation of using black Kryolan liquid latex on my neck to improve the effect.
The fire house undergoes a complete make-over at halloween when it is transformed into the haunted house. The fire house had just undergone a refit so the beams that I suspended myself from last time were not available, so I had to find somewhere else.
I initally stood in one of the rooms, which was okay but I was not getting the right effect as people were not coming into the room. I noticed that on the stairs there was a ladder and wondered if I could suspend myself from it. I'd brought along my harness and after a few goes at finding the best method of attaching myself, I managed to suspend myself from the ladder in a way that was not too uncomfortable.
I though I'd also pretend to be a mecahnical halloween dummy and shake my legs as people walked past so that they would think I was mechanically operated and triggered to move as they walked past; this actually worked quite well and I got some geat reactions.
Then location I had chosen was just on the stairs landing, so I would wait until they’d got safely down the stairs before I scared them.
All in all a fun-terrifying day!
